Creeping Buttercup
Ranunculus repens

This shot was taken on a public footpath near to where I work in Wigan. A very variable perennial that flowers between May and August and is found throughout Britain. It can be a very troublesome garden weed due to its long, creeping and rooting runners. It grows on grassy habitats, including woodland walks and clearings, especially on wet, heavy calcareous or slightly acidic clay soils.
