Germander Speedwell
Veronica chamaedrys

This shot was taken on a public footpath near to where I work in Wigan. Germander Speedwell, also known as the Eye of Christ, is common throughout Britain and can be found in woodland, hedges, thickets, grassland, waste and stony places, also on banks. The pretty little flowers are bright blue with a white centre. During wet weather, the mouth of the flower does not open and the plant eventually self-fertilises.
