Ground Ivy
Glechoma hederacea

Ground Ivy grows in mats on bare ground, field margins, woodland and along hedgerows. It flowers throughout summer but is most abundant during spring. The extensive mats bloom with bluish-mauve, occasionally pink, two lipped flowers, the lower of the two being mottled pink. It spreads much like ivy by sending long runners over the ground. When mowed, it emits a mint-like odour.
